PTA's mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. Frisco ISD Council of PTAs has been selected to receive a Texas PTA Advocacy Impact Award for the 2023-2024 school year. Thanks to the entire board for working to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children!
As a Council, we have six seats on our District's Legislative Leadership Committee. It is a two year commitment in which we work together to develop our District's Legislative Priorities for the upcoming Legislative Session. Additionally, we work directly with our district to communicate and educate our community on what is happening in Austin. We hosted an Advocacy Update in December in which our Director of Government Affairs led the event and updated the audience on the Legislative Session and Special Sessions. As well as, one of the six luncheons we host, we invited FISD's Director of Government Affairs to speak as well as the District Co Chair for SHAC. We also had our President of the School Board speak to our attendees.
Additionally, we participated in and hosted a Watch Party for Straight Talk . We have a Council Member that is the Co-Chair of our district's SHAC Committee. Our Board of Trustees are invited and attend our delegate meetings and various special events. Lastly, we also hosted a training in which one of the breakouts was on advocacy.
The Texas PTA DEI Impact Award recognizes PTAs that best demonstrate outstanding achievement in the areas of diversity and inclusion as defined in the Texas PTA DEI Policy. Frisco ISD Council of PTAs commits to continually being a voice for all children by ensuring our work is mission-driven and equitable in the areas of membership, leadership, program content, advocacy, training, partnerships, and communications.
