Break out the confetti.
Frisco ISD PTA reached 20,000 members thanks to the hard work of Frisco PTA board officers and the support of Frisco ISD faculty, families and the community. Help Harvey victims

How many of us watched is dismay as Hurricane Harvey arrived on shore, leaving many without a home, school, and other critical resources? As a council, our immediate question was what can we do to help and our local PTAs not only had the same question but were ready to roll up their sleeves and chip in as well. It didn't stop there. Surrounding PTA councils created a partnership to further drive our efforts and pour in more support.

A swirl of ideas erupted over email. Types of donations, where to send them, how to get them to those who were so clearly in need. We even had a past council member who was impacted by Hurricane Katrina chime in on give her input on how critical it is that resources be made available so that victims have what they need easily and quickly. That is why we partnered with the American Red Cross. After speaking with the Dallas chapter regarding Hurricane Harvey and how to help with the relief efforts, we wanted to make sure that donations were flexible and accessible. Within hours of the fundraising campaign going live, we'd already reached over $1,000. Again, it didn't stop there. Neighboring ISDs in Northwest, Keller and Lewisville have spread the word throughout their community and helped drive us over the $3,000 mark. In addition to the fundraiser, we're pleased to announce that Texas PTA is committed to filling backpacks so students have the supplies they need upon returning to school. This is such an important mission to help children achieve a sense of normalcy during this time.

We are confident, that with your help, we will continue to raise awareness and funds for this important cause. If you would like to learn how to help, visit our Hurricane Harvey page for more information.

Launch and learn (with photos)

7/23/2017

Frisco ISD council members trekked to Houston last weekend to attend Texas PTA's LAUNCH. This annual conference plays an integral role in the life of a PTA officer. Over the course of a weekend, council members attend several workshops and sessions to gain valuable information across a spectrum of topics from tests to important legislation that can potentially impact our schools. For example, TEA Commissioner, Mike Morath, provided an overview of new STAAR documents which will provide educators with better tools to help students. In addition, attendees get an opportunity to connect with other officers within and outside their school district and engage in knowledge share as well as make connections. For the Frisco ISD council, the weekend wasn't without its rewards. The J Paul Company sponsored (and spoiled) the team with an amazing dessert bar and chocolate fountain. Mmmmm. Finally, at the awards ceremony, council members were honored with several awards, including the High Five and the prestigious Key Award, only awarded to three councils thanks to reaching an astounding milestone of 20,000 members. Purefoy Elementary PTA and Carroll Elementary PTA reached platinum status for Voice for Every Child, awarded to less than twenty-five Texas schools.

Attendees and those who missed it are already saving the date for next year's Launch conference to be held in Dallas between July 20-22, 2018.
